COURSE OBJECTIVES
1. To experience a disciplined study of
history.
2.
To examine the historical
establishment, evolution, and disruption
of the basic
institutions, and philosophies in the
western world.
3. To identify the causes, major events,
and effects of the most
significant historical movements.
4. To
evaluate critically historical interpretations.
5. To
prepare for an Advanced Placement examination and receive
credit
under the UCONN Cooperative Program, though
a
student is neither required to take such an exam nor
enroll in the course with the expectations of receiving
UCONN advanced placement credit.
6. To expose the student to college level work.
7. To have the student understand and see the
roots of today's world in
the history of past events.
8. To
introduce the student to the major cultural trends in the visual
arts, music, architecture, and literature.
