                        A. A case study of an English village will be used.

                        B. The focus will be on economic, social, religious and political developments.

                        C. Institutions and themes will be studied and developed.

 

Unit 2; The Renaissance (2 weeks)

                        A. Florence will be used as a case study.

                        B. Cultural developments will be traced.

 

Unit 3; The Reformation (1 week)

                        A. Religious events as well as political and social aspects will be  studied.

                        B. Martin Luther’s life and accomplishments will be traced.

           

Unit 4; The Rise of the Nation-State (2 weeks)

                        A. Social and economic as well as political developments will be studied.

                        B. France will be used as a specific example.

 

Unit 5; Absolutism and the French Revolution (3 weeks)

                        A. Louis XIV will be used as a focal point.

                        B. Social and political structures will be developed.

                        C. The impact of the revolution will be explored.

                        D. The causes will be explored through the use of a case study.

                        E. Napoleon’s life and accomplishments will be assessed.

 

Unit 6; English Revolution (2 weeks)

                        A. English Parliamentary development will be traced.

                        B. Comparisons will be made with the French Revolution.
